Q: How long is the contract term?
A: T-Mobile service plans are 24-months in duration.
Q: Can you get a "family" plan?
A: Yes, T-Mobile offers a Family option which features a domestic flat rate for calls to and from up to 4 mobile phones; both contract and prepaid phones can be in the “family network”
Q: How do you pay T-Mobile bills?
A: Monthly bills are paid automatically through your bank via an automated direct debit or "Lastschrift".
Q: Can I use a different phone than the one that came with my original contract
A: Yes, you could purchase a new phone or switch back and forth between devices at any time, using your existing service plan. Just install the T-Mobile SIM card into another mobile phone.
XTRA PREPAID
Q: Is prepaid better than contract service?
A: It depends on your user profile and the duration of your stay in Germany.
Prepaid service is an ideal solution for example for light users, young family members, and short-term residents. With prepaid, it’s easy to keep expenses under control, plus there is no minimum duration or monthly fees. Postpaid plans on the other hand can provide a greater level of flexibility and convenience along with lower minute prices.
Q: Will my prepaid service plan and calling credit expire?
A: You can use a prepaid phone for as long, or short of a period as desired, there is no limit to the validity. Credit loaded to your phone will not expire unless there is no additional activity within 1 year.
T-Mobile does cancel “inactive” prepaid accounts in the interest of maintaining network resources, however notification per SMS is provided one month prior to the cancellation.
Q: How do you reload T-Mobile prepaid credit?
A: Loading an XtraCash card to your phone is easy. First carefully scratch off security strip to reveal the XtraCash number, then dial:
* 1 0 1 * [card number] # - then press DIAL
Your new prepaid balance will be displayed directly on the screen.
When loading prepaid credit over an electronic terminal, simply follow the on-screen prompts.
Q: How do you check how much credit is on the phone?
A: Your current prepaid balance will be displayed directly on the screen by dialing the following code:

Q: Can a German prepaid phone be switched over to a USA carrier and service plan?
A: Yes, TKS carries a wide range of “unlocked” mobile phones which are compatible in the USA, or with any other GSM service provider in the world. Ask a TKS sales representative for a recommendation as special conditions may apply to certain models.
Q: Is international roaming possible with German prepaid service?
A: Yes, with a T-Mobile prepaid phone, it is possible to make and receive calls in over 130 countries across 6 continents.
