All you'll need is a valid ID, the minimum age for prepaid is 16 years.
VODAFONE CONTRACT
To obtain a 24-month service plan you will need:
Identification
Valid military I.D. or passport
24-month residency status
Orders (military personnel)
Letter of employment or visa
German banking number
Monthly invoices are paid via automatic bank transfer; a bank with a German routing number (BLZ) is required.
Residential address
Your German postal address: street name, house number, postal code and city.
Credit card
Used only as a credit reference, no fees are charged.

CONTRACT
Q: How long is the contract term?
A: Vodafone service plans are 24-months in duration.
Q: How do you pay my monthly bills?
A: Monthly bills are paid automatically through your bank via an automated direct debit or "Lastschrift".
Q: Can I use a different phone than the one that came with my original contract?
A: Yes, you could purchase a new phone or switch back and forth between devices at any time, using your existing service plan. Just install your SIM card in another mobile phone.

Q: Is prepaid better than contract service?
A: It depends on your user profile and the duration of your stay in Germany.
Prepaid service is an ideal solution for example for light users, young family members, and short-term residents. With prepaid, it’s easy to keep expenses under control, plus there is no minimum duration or monthly fees. Postpaid plans on the other hand can provide a greater level of flexibility and convenience along with lower minute prices.
